Quick summary: In the conclusion of the Tempest trilogy, Jackson recovers from his near-death experience as the battle between Eyewall and the Tempest division continues. He and his family and friends are stuck in the future; as they plan to escape they discover how the time traveler gene evolved and some of the more disastrous effects of time travel. The battle between Tempest and Eyewall becomes a battle between free will and peace. Can Jackson do what needs to be done to save humanity and the world? Can he, as he set out to do in the first place, save the love of his life?

General thoughts: This was a great ending for this series! After reading the cliffhanger ending of Vortex a year ago, I was itching to get started on this book. Just like the previous books, this one is full of action, twists, and romance. There is a lot of time travel talk that can get confusing, but I thought it was balanced well with the romance and action of the story. This book is a real emotional roller coaster; in one moment Jackson and Holly are having a tender moment and the next their lives are in danger and another twist is thrown into the mix. You think the story is going one way, but the ending takes you somewhere else completely. I loved the last line; it was the perfect last touch. I really enjoyed seeing these characters again and I now have that familiar bittersweet feeling of finishing a favorite series.

My rating: 4 stars

Do I recommend it? Yes, I highly recommend this thrilling and romantic YA series.
